2025/26 PE & Sports at St Andrews Primary School
Last week we saw the start of the 2025/26 Sports Club offering with Football, Cross Country and Tag Rugby proving extremely popular. All 3 clubs were oversubscribed, and additional spaces have already been released to keep up with demand! It's fantastic to see so many of our little ones keen to push their sporting endeavours this year!
To end the week, Friday was our first competition of the year with children from Years 3&4 competing in the West Essex Tag Rugby Competition at Epping Upper Clapton RFC. After a week of wind and rain the weather was on our side with the children playing under blue skies and sunshine. It wasn't just the sun that was smiling, all of the children had a fantastic day. We took two teams to the event and both upheld everything about our school values of friendship, courage and confidence.
St Andrew's A competed in the cup competition against the very best teams from across West Essex. St Andrew's B were entered into the plate competition where they came a very respectable 5th out of 14 teams, scoring some fantastic team tries! St Andrew's A rose to the challenge and topped their group unbeaten. The standard of their rugby was highly commended by a large number of the club staff who were extremely impressed by their skills & abilities, we have some future rugby stars at St Andrew's! The team progressed to the days Cup Final where they were pipped to the gold medal with a last second try. Again, showing our school values and incredible sportsmanship, the team collected their silver medals with beaming smiles on their faces. As a result of their fantastic performance, (as runners up from over 30 teams) they will now represent St Andrew's in the Regional Finals later in the school year.
A huge thank you to the parents and carers who transported the children and cheered them on through every try and tag. It was fantastic day for all involved.
If week one was anything to go by we are in for another jam packed year of sport at St Andrew’s!
