SATs in Year 6

In Year 6, children take the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Tests (SATs). These assessments take place during the summer term and help to provide a picture of each child’s attainment at the end of primary school.

Children are assessed in English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling, and mathematics. Writing is assessed separately by teachers using work completed throughout the year.

At St Andrew’s, we want children to approach their SATs feeling confident, prepared and supported. Throughout Year 6, pupils will become familiar with the types of questions they may encounter while continuing to enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum. We encourage families to support children positively at home and to help us ensure that SATs are kept in perspective as just one part of their learning journey.

Further Information

Parents and carers can find further information about Key Stage 2 tests, including guidance about the assessments and how results are reported, on the UK Government website.
