On Wednesday, December 4th, Year 5 visited the North Weald Airfield Museum as part of our World War II topic.
During our visit, we explored the ground floor rooms and discovered a variety of fascinating artifacts, such as an ejector seat, an airplane engine, and uniforms worn during the war. We also saw an airplane instrument panel, an RAF firefighter helmet, model airplanes, and even a bicycle that was used to navigate around the airfield during that time.
A highlight of our visit was a stunning stained glass window, donated to the museum, which is valued at £14,000. Throughout our exploration, we encountered many photos and maps, learning about the heroic efforts of those who contributed to the war effort at the North Weald Air Base.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the volunteers who opened the museum especially for our visit and gave us a warm welcome, especially since the museum is closed for the winter.

Year 5 had a fantastic time at Bletchley Park. The children took part in a code breaking activity, as well as learning what skills and qualities a person would need to work at Bletchley during WWII. They even got to use a real Enigma machine!
